For each of the summer months—June, July, August—we will be suggesting a project in which you, as a family, can do together, in hopes for the opportunity to grow closer to God and each other :)
Create a Mary Garden
faith through flowers
Here are some questions to discuss while planning your garden:
Here are some excerpts from Deacon Frank’s May 22nd article:
“Mary Gardens date back to the 7th century... The election of herbs and plants have an association with the Blessed Mother and are more than just reminders of Mary: they tell stories… every plant in the Mary Garden has a meaning."
“A Mary garden is more than just a bunch of plants... Like any garden, there is an element of time invested in its growth and development, and a Mary Garden affords the opportunity to reflect on the Blessed Mother and her Son... when the flowers and herbs grow and fill the space, our enjoyment of the scents and colors can draw us into completation.
"Of course, the best part is showing off your garden, and just like those medieval gardeners, sharing the Mary story that each plant represents."
So... please take pics as your garden grows and we’ll let you know in a few weeks where to send them!

Carry Your Catholic!
Our faith is MORE than just going to church on Sundays or praying at bedtime. We can TAKE OUR FAITH with us wherever we go! Do you wear a crucifix or a saint necklace orbracelet? Do you carry a crucifix, prayer card or booklet, Rosary beads or Bible in your backpack, purse, wallet or car? Well, if so, then you are CARRYING YOUR FAITH WITH YOU… which is the inspiration for this month’s Family Faith Project.
When you are out and about this summer take pictures of your faith item in that environment. Below are a few creative ideas to Carry your Catholic Faith with you, or come up with our own!
