Fr. Brian was born to William and Sheila Mahoney and was the youngest of five children. He grew up in Hudson, MA, where his parents took in many foster children and other people. It was always a full and active home with a lot of love. He went to Boston College for his undergraduate degree in Computer Science, and then worked for Digital for 5 years before entering Saint John Seminary in 1990.
Fr. Brian was ordained in 1995, first serving at Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Wellesley until 2000. At that time, he was transferred to Saint Joseph in Medway. After only one year, he was then sent for further studies to Catholic University in Washington, DC to pursue his STL in Liturgy. He received his degree in 2003 and was appointed to be Director of the Office for Worship for the Archdiocese of Boston, a position he remained in until 2009.
In 2006, alongside his other duties, he was appointed pastor of Saint Theresa in Sherborn. Fr. Brian remained there until 2010, at which time he was then asked to serve as pastor to the Saint Francis faith community in Dracut. He came to the Chelmsford Catholic Collaborative on June 2, 2015 from St. Francis in Dracut where he simultaneously acted as Pastor for St. Francis and Administrator for both St. Marguerite in Dracut and St. Rita in Lowell.
Among many of Fr. Brian’s responsibilities, he is an instructor at The Theological Institute at Saint John’s Seminary Master of Arts in Ministry Program (MAM) and the Master of Theological Studies (sinced 2005), and teaches in the Diaconate Program (since 2004).
Oh, and if you see (or hear) a Harley around the grounds… that’s him!
