Heather was born and raised in Colorado, and from a very young age, was drawn to the faith. Following her call to attend a Catholic university, she earned her undergraduate degree from Regis University in Denver, with a minor in Religious Studies. She did her graduate work at the University of Florida in education and psychology.
Heather married her one and only true love in college, and they are blessed with three wonderful children and one granddaughter. In working to provide a home centered in the faith and to provide solid, meaningful formation, her desire to pursue the ministry of catechetics grew. She earned her Masters of Arts in Ministry degree at St. John’s Seminary in Boston, and has continued with post-graduate studies. She is certified as Director of Faith Formation and as a Pastoral Associate through the Archdiocese of Boston.
She spent many years serving in diverse military chapels overseas and in parish communities across the United States. Prior to her arrival at St. Mary’s some ten years ago, she served as the Catholic Community Coordinator at Hanscom Air Force Base, where she devised, coordinated and directed a variety of liturgical, catechetical, social outreach, youth ministry and ecumenical programs and managed the budget and resources for all Catholic programs. The Holy Family Catholic Community at Hanscom was one of the first military chapels to lose their active duty priest, which provided Heather the unique responsibility of recruiting, managing and overseeing the pay for contracted priests with the Air Force and Archdiocese of the Military. This is where she first served with both Fr. Donohoe and Fr. Mahoney, and it was at the invitation of Fr. Donohoe and the urging of Fr. Mahoney that that she came to St. Mary’s.
Although Heather loves all aspects of parish ministry, she has a particular desire to serve in faith formation. To quote St. Francis of Assisi, “God has sent you into the whole world that you might bear witness in word and deed,” she believes that Faith Formation is about information that leads to transformation of self and community… transformed to go forth as disciples into the world, proclaiming in word and deed, the Good News of the Lord. Heather looks forward to walking this journey of transformation with you and your families as together we continue to grow and live deeply our faith.
