Deacon John Hunt was ordained a permanent deacon of the Archdiocese of Boston on September 19, 1998.
One of 5 children—3 sisters and 1 brother—he grew up in Lowell under the guidance of John and Florence Hunt, both who have since gone home to the Lord, as well as his younger sister Mary Ann. He attended grammar school at St. Peter’s School in Lowell and Lowell High School, followed by attendance at Northern Essex Community College and the University of Lowell. Professionally, he has worked mostly in the semiconductor industry as an Engineer and currently as a Quality Manager for M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory.
Deacon John claims the greatest treasures of his life to be his two daughters, Nicole and Rachel. Nicole, an RN and hairdresser, as well as a wife to TJ who is a licensed plumber, is mom to the owners of his heart; Eva age Six, Eliana age 4, and Luke age 8 months. Rachel is currently finishing her degree in Early Childhood Education, while working at a school that provides child care and pre-school programs.
In his free time, he loves to spend time with his grandchildren, read, study theology and scripture, play the guitar, golf and tend to his marine reef aquarium — home to two 20-year-old fish! Growing up, he would enjoy both fresh water and deep sea fishing with his dad. On the weekends, he also enjoys making use of his barbecue smoker.
He has also organized many Catholic pilgrimages to various sites around the world, his favorite, of course, being the Holy Land.
