Courtney started at St. Mary's in September of 2014. She came fresh off completing a year of service with the Capuchin Franciscans as a CapCorps Volunteer at Capuchin Youth & Family Ministries. Prior to that she was in graduate school at Boston College studying theology and ministry.
As a result of our collaboration in June, 2015, Courtney's role was expanded from Youth Minister and Confirmation Coordinator for St. Mary Parish, to being the same for the entire Collaborative. This position encompasses a myriad of things, but focuses primarily on meeting the needs of our collaborative’s adolescents and helping them to share their gifts with the community. Chances are if an event in the parishes involves teenagers, Courtney is part of overseeing it.
For Confirmation, this involves things such as teaching classes, conducting retreats, keeping on top of requirements, etc. For Youth Ministry this involves things such as planning youth group meetings, arranging service opportunities, organizing mission trips, etc. She loves what she does and feels blessed to be able to serve such wonderful parish communities with so many amazing people and, she will be quick to point out, particularly amazing young people.
Courtney is a native of Upstate New York (go Bills!), the oldest of 4, and a country girl at heart. When not engaged in ministry she likes to stay active by skiing in the winter and hiking and playing soccer in the summer. She also enjoys staying in and reading, writing, or working on music.
If you ever have questions about opportunities for youth in our community or would like to become more involved in this wonderful ministry, give her a call!
