Our Council Knights from St. John's Parish responded to the call from Ministry leaders of the Friday Evening Stations of the Cross during Lent. When invited, 16 of our Brothers joined as a team to lead the congregation in reciting the Knights of Columbus recommended: "The Way of the Cross Meditations adapted from Saint Alphonsus Ligouri's version" on March 22nd.
Grand Knight Ubaldo Mendes welcomed our parishioners, and opened with a prayer while our 14 Knights followed to "Proclaim His suffering" at the individual Stations. Sir Knights Dick Curtis and Joe Molligi served as Station Honor Guards and Augustine Worae-Tweneh bore the Crucifix throughout the journey to Calvary. Ubaldo and Augustine both had the added joy of having their sons, Ethan and James, join us as Candle Bearers for the prayerful passage. We also had superb vocal accompaniment from Marciana Ataarems and Hailey Mann, who led us in memorable verse after each Station.
Numerous attendees thanked us and commented on how inspiring it was to witness such men as our Knights come together in this special prayer and ceremony during Lent.
Our local Bishop Ruocco Council Knights purchased and delivered new wheelchairs to both
St. John's and St. Mary's. This is part of a Knights of Columbus international program that encourages Councils to provide these expensive items for our Parishes to ensure their availability when necessary.
If you have occasion to require use of these wheelchairs, we ask that you please ensure that they are returned to these permanent storage locations.
