Ever heard of resting in the spirit?
OK … that’s not really what I meant by rest, but according to a study by Dr. Herbert Benson of the Harvard Medical School, people who pray enter a “relaxation response.” The body’s metabolism decreases, the heart rate slows, blood pressure goes down, and our breath becomes calmer and more regular. Our body responds to the state of our soul in the presence of God!We’re so used to doing. When we’re with Him in His presence, we need only be. He simply asks us to just exist before Him. We don’t have to pray a certain way. We don’t have to say the right, holy thing. We just need to be, and He will take care of the rest.In need of that kind of rest?Whether we are aware of it or not, our souls long for their creator. We have a thirst that can only be truly quenched by our God. We have a longing and a desire for peace that can only be obtained through Him who IS peace. If you find yourself in a place that is running short on peace and hope, we invite you to begin anew (or begin again) a journey to the Spirit who dwells within you! He longs for and patiently awaits for us to come and sit quietly with Him.For those of you new to this practice, you may find it difficult at first to sit in silence. We are so used to the incessant noise that surrounds us daily. But hang in there… you will soon find that the quiet is exactly what you need to carry with you into the world, to rely on, and to share. We promise… in time, you will come to love your “alone time” with the Lord.

Located in Old Parish Center at 115 Middlesex Road . No Chelmsford- Adoration is offered on the First Friday of the month from
1 - 10 pm, and then the following Saturday morning from

Praise and Worship Holy Hour
St. Mary Church
25 North Road . Chelmsford- Third Sunday of the month from 3:30 - 4:30 pm
- Accompanied by music performed by St. Mary Music Ministry
- There will also be time allotted for quiet time
