Join us in the celebration of the African Liturgy every Sunday at 12 noon at St. John Church!
Additonally, throughout the year we offer various retreats and events such as an Annual New Year's Mass, mini-retreats, healing Masses and our Annual Harvest fundraising event of which 50% of all monies raised is given back to the St. John Community. As events are scheduled, we will let you know.
Join us in welcoming Dr. Daniel Okyereh Okyereh as the new Chair of our St. John African Community. In this role, he will lead their community in all activities and events that assist in the physical and spiritual growth of their members, as well as raising funds not only for their own needs, but those of the collaborative as well.
Dr. Okyereh replaces Juliana Magbondzi Tweneh, who has been in the role since 2011 and is one of 6 founding members of this selfless and generous community, which was founded in 2004. Over the years they have given substantial financial support as a result of their Annual Harvest, in which 50% of all funds raised are donated to St. John Church. Since 2017, the year which marks the first such event, they have donated $45,892! Since 2022, they also have given generously to the support of retired priests in the Archdiocese. While the main purpose of their Annual Harvest is that of fundraising, the main purpose of their Annual African Mass is to lift the hearts and souls of the African community, reach out to those who have walked away from the Church, and to introduce our collaborative community to the experience of their beautifully intense Catholic faith and charismatic culture. They do this alongside a visiting choir from the Ghanaian Catholic Community of St. Joan de Arc in Worcester. Join them on July 2 for this year’s Mass (11 am) followed by food and fellowship, which this community is also well-known for!
